Jamil Wael Risha, a 17 year old boy from Gaza City was injured by Israeli soldiers on April 26th. He was visiting the cemetery after Friday prayers near the Gaza-Israel border when Israeli soldiers left their jeep and started shooting at him and his friends. Jamil hit a soldier with a stone and the soldier responded by shooting him in the leg with a dum dum bullet, illegal under international law, that caused a fracture and serious damage to the muscles in Jamil’s leg. The bullets are banned under international law because they often result in serious bodily harm, internal bleeding, and death. Israel continues to use them despite the ban. Israel agreed not to fire on civilians near the border in their recent ceasefire treaty with Gaza. Israel has broken this ceasefire more than 150 times.
