Nelson Mandela and Yasser Arafat
Our prayers to Nelson Mandella .. from Palestine

Pretoria, South Africa: Workers and students protest the visit of U.S. President Barack Obama, June 28, 2013. One said he viewed Obama as a “disappointment" and thought Nelson Mandela would too.

Great, great signs!

Nablus is praised for its mouth-watering cuisine, and specifically, it’s pegged as home to the best knafeh in the world. In 2009, Nablus set the Guinness record for the world’s largest knafeh, weighing in at 1,350 kg. So we couldn’t leave without grabbing a bite of the popular Middle Eastern pastry.

We stopped by Abu Zanat, a small pastry restaurant hidden in a cozy, cave-like nook. Made from flaky filo dough mixed with syrup and orange blossom water, the sweet, cheese-filled treat had a crispy crust topped with pine nuts, contrasting the soft, cheesy center. To say the knafeh was heavenly would be an understatement. By far the best I’ve ever had.

At the restaurant, we met a couple from Sweden that told us they were visiting Nablus to experience the Middle Eastern and culinary culture. I learned that people are willing to travel countless miles to taste the world-best, authentic dessert. We drove more than an hour and a half from Beit Hanina to experience it, and I’m so glad we did.

The US-based food giant McDonald’s has turned down an offer to open a branch in an Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank, in yet another backlash to the regime’s illegal settlement activities.

Israel also shut down all crossings into Gaza,

Qatayef is an Arab dessert commonly served during the month of Ramadan, a sort of sweet dumpling filled with cream or nuts.

Qatayef was traditionally prepared by street vendors as well as households in the Levant (Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria) and Egypt. It’s usually prepared using Akawi cheese as a filling, a white brine cheese, native to Palestine. It is named after the city of Acre, where it first originated, the Arabic akkawi meaning “from akka”

Qatayef is the general name of the dessert as a whole, but more specifically, the batter. The result of the batter being poured into a round hot plate appears similar to pancakes, except only one side is cooked, then folded. The pastry is filled with either unsalted cheese or a mixture of any of hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds, pistachios, raisins, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. It is then deep-fried or, less commonly, baked and served with a hot syrup or sometimes honey

When you hear the Adhan.. when memories jump to your mind.. back in time when you were young.. how often you hear it... many voices, some are remarkable.. roosters start giving their own adhan after prayer is over.. what a picture!

Now getting a little older.. walking with a friend, talking happily when you hear the adhan, you both listen silently to this sacred call! what a beautiful voice you both enjoy, and what a great message it holds!

Now your friend is no longer near you.. but the Adhan is still there, reminding you with his memory!

Did you travel abroad?.. are you feeling lonely away from your beloved ones?.. wait.. the Adhan is calling… now you'll find your shelter! Just get in, and enjoy sitting inside Allah's house, among your Muslim brothers and get to know new friends when you shake hands with the one next to you after you both have finished!

What a peaceful atmosphere inside the Masjid!... you've just taken off your shoes and you took off with them the burden of life you have been carrying on your shoulders. Now you feel the true meaning of slavery towards Allah, when you complain to Him, ask Him, and wish Him to forgive your sins.

Made your wuduu?.. how do you feel now? Being washed with cool water, your face is dripping.. your arms are wet… you feel fresh again though you've been the very last moment feeling sleepy ^__^

How is prayer? It has been always the thermometer of your relation with your Creator.. remember last time when you felt so close?, when you were concentrating with all your emotions and body organs?.. slowly and peacefully you make your next movement, did you feel harmony then? You miss that when you make something that interrupts your relation with Allah.. Oh we do miss a lot!

Do you love your friend?.. did you invite him to pray with you and be your Imam?..

Do you like them to be raised as good Muslims? Then why not letting them share these moments with you? Happiness does cost very little indeed! Less than we imagine!

Ahmad Batebi joined other students from the University of Tehran in a mass protest against the government on July 12, 1999.  When a fellow protestor was shot, Batebi used the man’s shirt to treat his wounds, then held the shirt above his own head.  That image, above, made the cover of The Economist, drawing the attention of authorities.  Batebi was imprisoned by the Iranian government where he said he was tortured for years before his escape to the U.S. in 2008 where he was granted asylum.  Batebi eventually became a human rights activist and was hired by Voice of America.

There’s no such thing as an inferior people. There are oppressed people. And they’re not oppressed by superior people. They are oppressed by people who are better organized than they are.

The reason why the Klu Klux Klan terrorizes us is because they are organized. They have meetings every week and their members go to the meetings. They discuss racist ideology. They internalize it and then they mobilize it. They even make uniforms for that.

Not many of us can say we go to meetings every week for the people.

Our 22,000 visitor you are welcome on our Blog .

What are you filling the gaps of your heart with?

“I have grown to love secrecy. It seems to be the one thing that can make modern life mysterious or marvelous to us. The commonest thing is delightful if one only hides it.”

“Never ignore a person who loves you, cares for you, and misses you. Because one day, you might wake up from your sleep and realize that you lost the moon while counting the stars.”

I FOLLOW BACK 1OO%

“Two souls are sometimes created together and in love before they’re born.”

“If Allah created you for this world, He would have created you without death.”

It’s because you need more than one milkshake. “My milkshakeS”

you know when you put off an assignment till the last minute because you don’t feel like dealing with it and then you stay up all night to finish it but when you finish it, you’re all like “wow wtf that was so easy, why didn’t i just do this earlier??” and you hate yourself for being a procrastinating shitbag

“Don’t rush your Salah for anything, as you are standing in front of the one who is in charge for whatever you are rushing for.”

“The olive tree: at once a symbol of peace throughout the Mediterranean and an embodiment of identity deeply entranched in Palestinian culture. The olive tree is also the foundation for the economic activity and development in Palestine. Planting an olive tree, therefore, is both expressing a desire for peace and also a desire to protect lands from dispossession and ruin.
The scattered pockets of color which compose this mural are but a symbol of a culture, an identity, which is itself disjointed and in fragments. In contrast, the phrase ‘My name is Palestine’ affirms the existence of this identity. Naming is one manner through which to assert the presence of a people, a history, and a culture.”
