Renowned for its hundreds of shops, street vendors and restaurants, the market in the city of Ramallah bustles with visitors shopping, stocking up on fresh fruit and bread or grabbing a bite of authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. Ramallah, meaning “Height of God” in Arabic, is located in the central West Bank of Palestine, and the “souq” is the heart of the city. We left with two bags of fruit, bread, clothes and jewelry. Now I get why when Ramallah is brought up in conversation here, people’s eyes instantly light up.
